On behalf of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter and the Annual Meeting Committee, we would like to welcome you to the Washington Metropolitan Area, also known as the DMV (District-Maryland-Virginia). The area is comprised of Washington, DC; several counties in Maryland including Montgomery County, home of the National Library of Medicine; and parts of Virginia, including Alexandria, home of George Washington’s Mount Vernon. The meeting will be held in beautiful Old Towne Alexandria at the Crowne Plaza where all rooms enjoy a view of the Potomac River.

The theme of this year’s meeting is “Foundations to Frontiers,” embracing our past achievements and exploring our future successes. Our invited speakers bring a world of experience in health care and health information. Our keynote speaker, Dr. Leighton Ku, is the Director of Center for Health Policy Research in the Department of Health Policy in the School of Public Health and Health Services at the George Washington University. He serves on the board of the DC Health Benefit Exchange Authority. His presentation will cover health care access and reform.

A panel of information professional experts: Jaime Blanck, Clinical Informationist at Welch Medical Library at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Janice R. Lachance, CEO of the Special Library Association, and Professor Ellen Detlefsen, a tenured faculty member in the School of Information Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh, will discuss issues related to moving the profession forward. Dr. Kevin Grigsby, Senior Director, Leadership & Talent Development at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) will be discussing leadership development and mentoring.

For the first time this year, we are offering lightning continuing educational (CE) courses. The classes will be shorter at two hours each and cheaper – one for $25 and 2 for $45. In addition, on Sunday, MAC will have a resume clinic where you can get expert consultation on your resume or curriculum vita. Free printing of your resume or cv will be offered.
